Help Sizes

Supported banner sizes.

Every banner on Signal is an image at one of the standard sizes below, and every ad slot on a member's website is built for one or more of them. A banner only shows in a slot of the same size, so the sizes you pick decide where your ads can appear. Width and height must match exactly; the server reads the image itself, not the file name.

Choosing sizes for an ad slot

Measure the space first

Look at the spot on your page and note how wide it is. Pick sizes no wider than that space. A 300 px sidebar can hold 300x250, 300x600, 250x250, 250x360, or 160x600.

Give one slot several sizes

A responsive slot lists more than one size. Each time the page loads, Signal measures the space the slot has and shows the largest listed size that fits. One embed code then works on desktop and phones. A footer slot with 970x250, 728x90, and 300x250 shows the billboard on wide screens and the rectangle on phones.

More sizes, fewer empty slots

A slot only fills when some campaign has a banner in one of its sizes. Adding common sizes such as 300x250 and 728x90 gives a slot more banners to choose from. If no banner fits the widest size right now, Signal steps down to the next size that has one.

Choosing sizes for your banners

Cover the common sizes

Your campaign can only appear in slots that match a size you uploaded. A practical starting set is 300x250 for content and sidebars, 728x90 for desktop page tops, 300x600 for large sidebars, and 320x50 for phones. Add more sizes to reach more slots.

Signed-in members can open Ad sizes in the portal to see which sizes the network shows most right now, how many ad slots take each one, and where few banners compete for many slots.

One message, many shapes

Make each size its own layout instead of shrinking one design. Wide sizes suit a short line and a button side by side; tall sizes can stack a picture, a headline, and the button. Keep the text large enough to read at the actual size.

Export at the exact size

Export each file at exactly its listed width and height. A double-size (2x) export for sharp screens is rejected, because the pixels no longer match. Keep each file at 350 KB or smaller.
